The heart and emphasis of my work is to help you begin the journey of self-discovery, healing and renewal. Whether an individual or a couple, together we will explore your inner experience with an attitude of compassionate self-inquiry and trust. Gain new insights, self-understanding, a greater capacity for self-awareness, and more conscious committed relationships.
When you are able to be intimate and present with yourself, you will be able to be intimate and present with another. Discover how certain emotions, behaviors and beliefs have shaped your life and relationships. Become empowered to make important changes.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with an emphasis on Clinical Psychology. My practice focuses on couples counseling, mood disorders, adoption and infertility issues, grief and loss, trauma and abuse, and assisting those who have been wounded as children.
I have presented at workshops and to general audiences on topics ranging from Mid-Life Transitions, Bereavement, Child Bereavement, Group Facilitation, Life After Loss, Trauma and Community Crisis Response Training.
I am a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist. My treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. I incorporate a blend of conventional and alternative approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, I work with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.
In addition to my private practice, I am the Group Facilitator for the San Luis Obispo ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Support Group. This support group is operated by the ALS Association - Greater Bay Area Chapter.
Recently, it has been my pleasure to help found the Milton H. Erickson Institute of the California Central Coast. My esteemed colleagues, Ernest L. Rossi, PhD, Kathryn L. Rossi, PhD, Ella Soleimany, MA and I are in the process of giving workshops which will perpetuate the research and methods used byErnest L. Rossi, PhD and Milton H. Erickson, MD. These workshops primarily train therapists.
I am also the Disaster Mental Health Chair for the local California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists. Trained by the Red Cross and others, therapists from our local CAMFT are ready to assist in the event of a community disaster.
